He was talking about styles such as Polynesian music, Chilean "cueca", Bolivian "tinku", Japanese "enka" or Middle Eastern folk music. The saxophone isn't normally used in those styles ...They are odd-looking things, with a little circular "punch-out" at the rear end of the playable part of the reed. ON the back of the reed it says "3", "Charpen", and "France". I am attaching a photo of the box as well as the reed, front and back. I paid $20 for a box of 25. Thanks. The alto reeds were $24.99 and tenor $26.99 from KesslerMusic. The Omega's I bought in the late 1980s with the clear plastic top. I have several of the fuzzy brown boxes from the 1960s too.
